Super stopper in Chelsea action… about time!
Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois finally returned to Chelsea training this week.
The 22-year-old signed for the Blues in June 2011, joining from Genk for £5m.
However, he has not made a single first-team appearance for the Stamford Bridge club, having spent the past three seasons out on loan at Atletico Madrid.
Courtois excelled in Spain, featuring in 111 league matches and helping the capital club win La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup – as well as finishing runners up in last season’s UEFA Champions League.
He is now set to compete with Petr Cech for the number one jersey in West London.
Chelsea uploaded the below image to their official Instagram account on Thursday afternoon, along with the message: “A first #CFC training session for Thibaut Courtois.”
