Manchester United have reserved their famous no.7 shirt for incoming superstar Arturo Vidal, reports Chilean daily newspaper Le Tecera.

The shirt has previously been worn by Cristiano Ronaldo and George Best, and the Red Devils are happy to take it from Antonio Valencia and give it to Vidal instead.

The Red Devils will award the midfield supremo a £225,000 per week contract, and are happy to part with a whopping £47m to secure the 27-year-old.

United have so far secured big money deals for Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw this summer, but the acquisition of the Juventus man would blow their £37.5m transfer record (signing Juan Mata from Chelsea in January) out of the water.

Vidal excelled for Juventus last season, helping The Old Lady win a third consecutive Serie A title. His barnstorming presence in the middle was clear for all to see, and his 18 goals in all competitions were combined with a constant industrious and combative presence in the centre.

It looks like the Vidal deal is almost certain to go through now, with various publications, Including the Daily Star, reported that Vidal’s agent had jetted to Manchester United to finalise terms on his client’s enormous contract.
