Liverpool youngster Rafael Paez is set for a loan move to secure his first steps of first team football, according to the Liverpool Echo, who suggest that the defender is set to spend the season on loan at Italian Serie B outfit Bologba.

Spaniard Paez spent last season with the Liverpool Under 21 side after a successful trial, making 15 appearances for Liverpool’s U21s after he was released by La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Liverpool staff now seem to believe that it is time for Paez to secure some first team football for the new campaign, with Serie B club Bologna emerging as a likely destination, as they look to secure a return to the Italian top flight.

The 19 year-old is rated as a promising prospect for the future at Anfield, and Brendan Rodgers will be hoping that he can return from a season out loan playing regular football and challenge for a place in his first team thinking for the 2015/16 season.

Bologna are looking to secure an immediate return to Serie A in the upcoming campaign, having been relegated from the top flight last season, continuing a recent trend that has seen them become the archetypal yo-yo club in Italy.
