Bayern Munich have officially confirmed they have agreed a deal to sign Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina.

The Allianz Arena side have moved to bring in the Spanish international with a spot being made available after third choice custodian Lukas Raeder left for Portuguese side Vitória Setúbal last month.

The experienced keeper spent last season out on loan at Napoli but despite impressing at the Serie A side a permanent move was not forthcoming.

The former Barcelona goalie will team up with former Nou Camp boss Pep Guardiola, acting as a back-up to World Cup winner Manuel Neuer along with 33 year old German Tom Starke.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers doesn’t appear to see 31 year old as part of his long term plans, having brought in Sunderland’s Simon Mignolet last summer, but nonetheless a deal to sell a player of Reina’s quality for such a small sum is perhaps a tad surprising.

Reina has made 394 appearances for Liverpool since moving to Merseyside back in the summer of 2005.
