Manchester United will demand Arda Turan as part of any deal that see’s Javier Hernandez and Shinji Kagawa move to Atletico Madrid – according to reports in Mundo Deportivo.

The Japanese playmaker, 25, and the Mexican striker, 26, both appear to be out of favour at Old Trafford, and could be moved out by new United boss Louis van Gaal before the start of the new Premier League season.

Spanish champions Atletico were believed to be interested in both players, but fear that by making a move they will open the door for United to bid for star player Turan.

The 27-year-old Turkish international has been with the Champions League runners-up since 2011, when he joined from Galatasaray, and scored nine goals in all competitions last season.

Madrid will be desperate not to lose another key component of their successful 2013-14 campaign, having already lost Diego Costa, Filipe Luis and Thibaut Courtois to Chelsea, with the latter having completed his third loan spell at the Vicente Calderon.

After last season’s difficulties, United have already signed midfielder Ander Herrera and full-back Luke Shaw, and will be hoping to continue their summer rebuilding process with at least one more signing before the start of the new season.
