Paris Saint-Germain look set to revive their interest in Chelsea star Eden Hazard this summer after failing in their efforts to sign Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid, it has emerged.

The Ligue 1 big-spenders have been linked with the Belgian winger in the past, but looked to have given up on making him their latest big-money signing when Chelsea ruled out the possibility of a sale earlier in this transfer window.

However, the Blues will have to be braced for another big-money bid before the end of the summer as PSG remain determined to bring in a top class attacking midfielder after seeing a deal for Di Maria fall through late on.

The Argentine international looked all set to complete his move to the Parc des Princes before the start of the new season, but it is now being reported that the two clubs have failed to agree a fee on the player, and that he may be proving too expensive for them.

Chelsea will no doubt be demanding big money for Hazard as well, and will be even more reluctant to sell the player this far into the summer, with the new Premier League season just over a week away from kicking off.

Hazard was one of the best players in the English top flight last season, and will be seen as key to Jose Mourinho’s side’s hopes of winning the title in 2014/15, though his fine form has unsurprisingly seen him attract interest from top clubs around Europe.

PSG may try their luck with an opening bid of around £50m – the same amount that they paid to sign David Luiz from the club earlier this summer, with the Brazilian international becoming one of many players to be axed by Mourinho this pre-season.

The likes of Romelu Lukaku and Demba Ba have also been sold, while Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole left for free after coming to the ends of their contracts, though Hazard will surely be too important for the Blues to let go at this stage.

Meanwhile, Manchester United may revive their interest in Di Maria after looking like missing out to PSG for his signature before this latest twist in the high-profile transfer saga.
