Everton could be set to offer unwanted winger Hatem Ben Arfa a way out of Goodison Park, with the Metro reporting that the Toffees could make a move for the Frenchman who has been ostracised in the North East.

Skillful and dangerous, Ben Arfa was one of Newcastle’s most impressive players during his early time at St. James’ Park after joining from Olympique Marseille, but fell massively out of favour last season and has now almost entirely been frozen out by Alan Pardew and the Magpies.

Ben Arfa has been training with the reserve team, whilst he was also fined for returning to pre-season training overweight – something that is disputed by the player’s agent.

Everton could be ready to capitalise on the situation, with Ben Arfa potentially available for a cut price fee as the Magpies are so desperate to move him off their wage bill.

The Toffees have already captured the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Muhamed Besic during this pre-season campaign, but Roberto Martinez is still believed to want to strengthen so they can compete on all fronts next season – including in the Europa League.
