Tottenham Hotspur are close to completing a deal that will see them sign USA international DeAndre Yedlin from the Seattle Sounders, according to the Daily Mail.

Yedlin, who impressed during three substitute appearances at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, played against Spurs in a recent friendly, which finished 3-3.

The 21-year-old is expected to remain with Seattle for the remainder of the MLS season, before linking up with Tottenham in January for a transfer fee in the region of £2.75m.

Serie A side Roma had been the favourites to land Yedlin’s signature, while Liverpool were also thought to be chasing the athletic full-back.

However, it now appears that his future is at White Hart Lane.

Yedlin is an attack-minded right-back, who is excellent at dribbling and has high energy levels.

Tottenham’s right-back responsibilities were shared between Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton last season. Neither player had a particularly good campaign.

Spurs have already added three players to their squad this summer, bringing in versatile defensive star Eric Dier from Sporting Lisbon, as well as signing goalkeeper Michel Vorm and left-back Ben Davies from Swansea City.

The Daily Mail claim that Spurs could complete the signing of Yedlin today.
