Southampton have agreed a £10m fee for Celtic keeper Fraser Forster according to the BBC.

The SPL side have previously turned down an original offer from the St Mary’s side and despite earning a Champions League reprieve it appears that England international is set to join the south-coast outfit.

A medical is planned for the weekend and the former Newcastle United man has already agreed personal terms and will be a welcome addition at the club following a host of high-profile exits that have decimated Ronald Koeman’s squad. The Magpies will receive 25% of the fee.

Celtic had been knocked out of the Champions League by Legia Warsaw but the Polish side were subsequently punished for fielding an ineligible player, leading to the Glasgow side remaining in the competition.

One wonders if such a move would leave Southampton ready to sell Artur Boruc, with the experienced keeper unlikely to be happy with a supporting role.
