Manchester United have been boosted in their pursuit of Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado, with the Serie A club revealing that they would not be able to turn down £25m for him this summer, according to the Times.

United had previously been linked with a £36m bid for the in-demand Colombian international, who is also known to be wanted by Barcelona, but it now looks as though they can sign him for as much as £11m less in what could go down as one of the bargains of the summer.

The 26-year-old South American star has been one of the best wide-players in Europe in recent times, emerging as a stand-out performer in Serie A last season and at this summer’s World Cup with his national team.

Able to play as both an attacking midfielder and a wing-back, Cuadrado could be highly useful to United as Louis van Gaal may use a 3-5-2 formation this season, with fellow new signing Luke Shaw another good contender to play wide on the left-hand side.

The arrival of Cuadrado would likely see players such as Nani shown the door at Old Trafford, with van Gaal looking to bring in new wingers after some poor recent form from his current options in that area.
