Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers had hoped to bring in French international Loic Remy but the QPR striker’s move to Merseyside collapsed and now Liberty Stadium ace Bony is uppermost on the club’s wish-list.

It appears that Swansea City are ready to sell the 25 year old but only if their £19m valuation is met, a fee that Liverpool are reticent to pay.

The former Vitesse Arnhem man moved to the South Wales side last summer in a club record £13m deal and went on to score 25 goals in all competitions in his debut campaign and may well be keen on securing a move to high-flying Liverpool.

Rodgers is looking to fill the void left by Luis Suarez’s move to Barcelona and though Rickie Lambert and Divock Origi have been brought in from Southampton and Lille it’s clear that Liverpool need a strong addition to further assist Daniel Sturridge in the final third.
