9) Fabio Cannavaro
Perhaps the only defender that could fall into this category, Fabio Cannavaro was not exactly a Galactico in terms of his price tag, but he arrived at Real Madrid in 2006 as a World Cup winner with Italy that summer and was only available on the cheap due to Juventus’ relegation to Serie B in the Calciopoli match-fixing scandal that year. An all-time great centre-back, Cannavaro certainly made his mark at the Bernabeu, winning two La Liga titles in just three seasons with the club.
