The 29 year old Danish international looks likely to leave Anfield this summer and Tottenham will join Arsenal and West Ham in pursuit of the Liverpool man.

Last term Agger played something of a supporting role, sharing duties with Kolo Toure and Mamadou Sakho as a partner to Martin Skrtel, but the summer arrival of Dejan Lovren may be the death knell for his lengthy Liverpool career.

Agger moved to Merseyside in 2006 and has made 232 appearances in his nine seasons at the club.

Tottenham’s top target comes in the form of Argentine centre-back Mateo Musacchio but if Mauricio Pochettino is unable to land the player from Villarreal then he will turn his attention to Agger, who may be open to remaining in the Premier League if he does leave Liverpool.

Pochettino will be keen to strengthen his defence with Tottenham having conceded more goals than any side in the top eight of the Premier League last term.
