Atletico Madrid will make a move for Tottenham forward Roberto Soldado regardless of the fact that their supporters have made it clear they do not want to see the White Hart Lane star move to the Vicente Calderon according to the Daily Mirror.

The 29 year old Spanish international moved to north London in a then club record £26m deal and managed to net just six goals in 28 Premier League appearances last term, four of which came from the penalty spot, but he is now seen by Diego Simeone as a possible replacement for Diego Costa.

The Brazilian born Spanish international has moved to Chelsea and the departure of his strike-partner David Villa to the MLS has left the La Liga title holders looking for urgent attacking reinforcements.

Simeone has successfully landed Croatian Mario Mandzukic and French winger Antoine Griezmann but clearly feels he needs further acquisitions.

Soldado’s previous affiliation with Real Madrid appears to upset Atletico fans though it should be noted that the experienced striker has proven very prolific in La Liga action.

Prior to his move to Tottenham Soldado had netted 81 goals in three season with Valencia.
