Liverpool may be about to unveil one of the best strike partnerships in Europe this season with South American expert Tim Vickery claiming the club are working on a deal to sign a big-name player to replace Luis Suarez upfront.

Rumours have mentioned that AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao may be the player the Reds have in mind, but it now looks increasingly likely that it may be Edinson Cavani of Paris Saint-Germain coming in to replace his fellow countryman.

With plenty of other exciting new faces on show at Anfield this season, plus another potential new addition in Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno, CaughtOffside looks at how Brendan Rodgers’ side could line up next season in a phenomenal-looking starting XI.

Goalkeeper and defence:

Alberto Moreno’s likely arrival at left-back along with the £20m signing of Dejan Lovren from Southampton gives Liverpool a much stronger-looking back four than last season. There have also been whispers about a bid for Barcelona right-back Dani Alves, but even with Glen Johnson continuing in that role, and some improved form and fitness from last summer’s signing Mamadou Sakho, the Reds will be hoping that this new-look back four can help keep them more solid at the back in the 2014/15 season.
