Ligue 1 moneybags make United striker shock target.
Paris Saint Germain are said to be eyeing up a sensational swoop to sign Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney after missing out on Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria this summer, the Metro reports.

The Ligue 1 champions had been in talks with Madrid over a deal for the Argentine international, and were thought to be willing to pay around £50m for his services.
However, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi revealed last week that the club eventually decided to stop their pursuit of the winger after deeming Real’s asking price as ‘too expensive.’
However, with the club still keen to bolster their attacking ranks this summer, it has now been suggested that the club have moved on to Rooney as an alternative.
Journalist Laurent Perrin of Le Parisien, said: “We [PSG] discussed a trade with Rooney.
“The only problem was that you can never play Rooney on the right as you do with [Edinson] Cavani.
“So either we change the system, but, Laurent Blanc actually doesn’t want either of them on the right and prefers Lucas.”
United aren’t thought to be keen on losing one of their prized assets, though, and now boss Louie Van Gaal will likely reject and advance made by the French giants.
Should a move for Rooney be knocked back, the club could turn to Chelsea’s Andre Schurrle instead.
