Everton look set to welcome in Ghanaian international Christian Atsu having agreed a deal ‘in principle’ to sign the Chelsea winger on a loan deal according to the Daily Mirror.

The 22 year old spent last term on loan at Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem and is yet to make a senior appearance for the Blues and his move to Goodison Park is dependent on his attaining a work permit.

Roberto Martinez has confirmed the deal and has been scouting the former FC Porto man for a number of months, monitoring the attacker most recently at the World Cup finas.

Everton took Romelu Lukaku on loan from the west London side last term, with the Belgian netting 15 Premier League goals, and then elected to sign the 21 year old on a permanent basis this summer for a club record fee of £28m.

Atsu is likely to be way down the Chelsea pecking order if he were to remain at the club for 2014/15 with boss Jose Mourinho able to select from the likes of Eden Hazard, Andre Schurrle, Willian, Mohamed Salah, Marko Marin and Lucas Piazon to fill wide-attacking roles.
