Official: Liverpool Announce Deal To Sign Sevilla Left-Back Alberto Moreno

The Reds are closing in on the Spaniard.

After weeks of speculation Liverpool have finally announced that a fee has been agreed with Sevilla to sign left-back Alberto Moreno.

BBC Sport reports that the fee is £12m for the Spain international, who wanted to wait until after the UEFA Super Cup before completing his move to Anfield.

As it was Moreno was withdrawn from the squad before the match with Real Madrid – which his side lost 2-0 in his absence – and he is expected at Anfield for a medical later this week.

The defender will become the Reds’ eighth new signing of the summer along with Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren (all joining from Southampton), Emre Can (Bayer Leverkusen), Lazar Markovic (Benfica), Divock Origi (Lille) and Javier Manquillo (Atletico Madrid).

It also takes their spending in this transfer window to £101m, which makes them the Premier League’s biggest spenders ahead of the 2014/15 campaign by quite some way.

Moreno came through the ranks at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium and broke into the first team in early 2013, going onto make 62 appearances for the club in all competitions since then.

Last season the full-back helped Sevilla win the Europa League and he also has two caps for Spain to date.
