Chelsea youngster Thibaut Courtois has turned down the offer of a ‘double your money’ contract from the west London club according to the London Evening Standard.

The 21 year old Belgian international looks set to challenge Petr Cech for the starting spot at Stamford Bridge having spent the past three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid and presumably would like a deal somewhere similar to that which the Czech Republic star earns.

The Blues have offered Courtois a five year that more than doubles his current £30k a week deal and whilst that may seem hard to fathom one can only imagine that Cech earns far far more, hence the former Racing Genk starlet’s concerns.

Some may argue that Cech clearly deserves a far better contract due to his long distinguished service but at the same time Courtois is arguably one of the best young talents in the game and is therefore keen to see his salary reflect that.

Courtois won a host of honours during his time in the Spanish capital including La Liga, Europa League and Copa del Rey crowns as well as a Champions League runners-up medal.
