Atletico Madrid have seen three of their star players depart for Chelsea this summer, and the Premier League giants could be set to begin returning the favour by selling them German midfielder Andre Schurrle.

The World Cup winning star, 23, only joined the Blues from Bayer Leverkusen last summer in an £18m deal, but with Stamford Bridge boss Jose Mourinho still needing to remove a foreign player from his squad to comply with Premier League regulations, it could be Schurrle who leaves.

While the Daily Mail believes that Chelsea would prefer to sell a different player, the likes of John Obi Mikel and Fernando Torres are not attracting sufficient interest.

And having already seen Diego Costa and Filipe Luis leave for London during this transfer window, along with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who has completed his third loan spell with the club, Atletico would be all too ready to poach a player who netted 18 goals for club and country last term.

The Champions League runners-up expressed an interest last week, and are now pressing for an answer from Chelsea. The player would appear to want to stay at Stamford Bridge and fight for his place, but could yet be tempted into a move to the Spanish champions.
