Everton could be set to continue their busy summer of strengthening the Goodison Park squad, with the Express reporting that Roberto Martinez is plotting a move to bring young Barcelona winger Gerardo Deulofeu back to the club for a second successive season-long loan spell.

The Toffees have already signed one young winger on loan in recent days, with Ghana international Christian Atsu arriving from Chelsea, but Martinez is still looking to strengthen further with the capture of Deulofeu, who impressed when given an opportunity in the first team at Goodison Park last season.

The teenager is seen as a genuine star of the future by the management at the Nou Camp, but he has not impressed new manager Luis Enrique with his displays in pre-season and could now be sent back out on loan to continue his development.

Everton may face competition for Deulofeu’s signature from Europa League champions Sevilla, however, who would be able to offer Deulofeu the carrot of a full season of experience in La Liga, the league where he hopes to make a name for himself in the future.

He enjoyed his time at Goodison Park, however, becoming a firm favourite with the club’s supporters, which could tempt him back to Merseyside.
