Manchester City have received yet another boost after a superb week for the club, with striker Sergio Aguero penning a new five-year contract with the reigning Premier League champions.

Aguero, already a hero amongst the club’s supporters for scoring the goal that won the club the Premier League title in 2012 with a last gap winner against Queens Park Rangers, has penned a deal that will keep him at Eastlands for the long-term.

He follows captain Vincent Kompany and playmaker David Silva in having signed a new deal at the club, whilst the likes of Joe Hart and James Milner are expected to be offered new contracts in the near future.

With City also having completed the £32m signing of centre back Eliaquim Mangala from FC Porto in the last seven days, it has proven to be an expensive week for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, although one that should cement their place as genuine contenders for the biggest honours over the coming years.

City will be hoping that a fit and firing Aguero is able to help tip the balance in the Champions League for City, who will be looking to advance past the last 16 this season.
