Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is hopeful that his club will let him join Tottenham Hotspur this summer and uphold a verbal agreement between them, according to the Daily Mail.

The French international is known to be keen on linking up with his old Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane, with the Argentine having left the club at the end of May.

Since then, a host of big-name players have also departed the St Mary’s Stadium, with Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren all moving to Liverpool, and with Luke Shaw and Calum Chambers leaving for Manchester United and Arsenal, respectively.

Schneiderlin is the latest to want out, and believes he should be granted his move as he and the club have a gentleman’s agreement to let him make a transfer elsewhere before the end of his current contract.

However, his manager Ronald Koeman has insisted that the 24-year-old will not be sold and that no more first-teamers will be heading for the exit door before the end of the transfer window.

Still, the Dutchman faces plenty of other problems before his side kick off their Premier League campaign, with goalkeeper Artur Boruc also thought to be unhappy at the club after the signing of Celtic star Fraser Forster to be the new number one.
