CaughtOffside Predicts Who The Premier League Player Of The Season Will Be: Decisions Split Between Arsenal And Man United Stars

The CaughtOffside team discuss the favourites for the Player of the Season gong.

The CaughtOffside writers predict who will be the Premier League’s best player below.

Adam Davies:

If Arsenal’s new fitness coach Shad Forsythe can keep Aaron Ramsey fit for the whole season, the Welshman will certainly be a candidate. Prior to his Christmas injury last year, Ramsey led the Premier League in goals, assists and tackles at various times, and has become one of the best all-round midfield players in the world. Philippe Coutinho of Liverpool has been in astonishing form, and his club colleague Raheem Sterling has the world at his feet, while Wayne Rooney could be reinvigorated after being handed the captaincy by Louis Van Gaal. I’ll stick with Ramsey though.

Tom Seymour:

Eden Hazard. Since joining the West Londoners from Lille in 2012 the Belgium international has come so close, named in the Team of the Year and nominated as Player of the Year twice and I think 2014/15 will finally be his year.

Glen Harrington:

Aaron Ramsey – He could easily have won the award last season if it weren’t for the injury issues that plagued him during the second-half of the season. Now fully fit once again, I expect him to be firing Arsenal towards further honours this season.

Robert Summerscales:

Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman is easily Arsenal’s best midfielder and, after some horrific injury problems, he is finally fully fit. Ramsey has bags of energy and is a devilish goal threat. It would not surprise me if he ended up as Arsenal’s top scorer.

Mark Apostolou:

Ander Herrera – At the risk of putting all my proverbial eggs in one basket I see the Man United midfielder wowing the masses and playing a pivotal role in Louis van Gaal securing yet another domestic title.

Steven Green:

Aaron Ramsey. For all their exotic star names, the Welshman is arguably the club’s best player, though he is another one that will be hoping to put his pasty injury concerns behind him.

Mark Brus:

Yaya Toure. The powerhouse midfielder was desperately unlucky not to win Player of the Year last season as he almost single-handedly won the title for City. With Suarez gone, he may now be the biggest star of the Premier League.

David Power:

I Reckon it’s the ‘Year of the Playmaker’, with Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Coutinho, Fabregas and David Silva fighting it out. But I’ll stick my neck out, and go for the Brazilian magician Coutinho!
