Bayern Munich could rival the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea for the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, according to German publication Bild.

The 27-year-old’s future has come under much speculation this summer as he enters the final year of his contract at the Bernabeu, and with Carlo Ancelotti likely to field new signing Toni Kroos ahead of him in the starting lineup this season.

It is speculated that the German World Cup winner could be allowed to leave Real for as little as £8m this summer due to the Spanish giants’ fear of losing him for free next summer, and he has now become a target for Bundesliga champions Bayern, who need cover in the defensive midfield position.

Pep Guardiola’s side have just lost influential player Javi Martinez to a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury, and Khedira’s availability has seen him become a top target for the club.

Khedira has previously played in his home country with Stuttgart, winning the Bundesliga title with his old side back in the 2006/07 season, and he may now be open to a return to Germany, despite strong interest from two Premier League giants in Arsenal and Chelsea.
