Reds receive transfer boost in chase for Dortmund star.Liverpool have received something of a boost with the news that Atletico Madrid will not be pursuing Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
The German international has been linked with a whole host of top European clubs this summer after establishing himself as one of the best attacking midfield players in the world during his time with Dortmund.
Arsenal are also believed to be interested in the 25-year-old, who reportedly has a release clause in his contract worth around £20m, which could see him go down as one of the bargains of the summer if he does move.
Liverpool will now hope to sign him as they eye top class replacements for Barcelona new-boy Luis Suarez, who left Anfield in a £75m deal earlier this summer, leaving a major hole upfront for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Reus can play as a striker or just behind the main centre-forward, and would represent a superbly ambitious addition to this Reds squad as they look to try again to challenge for the Premier League title this season, as well as compete in the Champions League for the first time since 2009/10.
