United to rival Spurs & Juventus for Serie A midfielder.Manchester United will switch their focus to Inter Milan midfielder and Tottenham Hotspur target Fredy Guarin as an alternative to Juventus star Arturo Vidal, according to the Daily Star.
The Red Devils are known to be in the market for a top-class signing in the middle of the park, with Vidal thought to have been Louis van Gaal’s main target in that position for most of this summer’s transfer window.
However, a deal for the Chilean international looks to have made little progress, and the Dutch tactician is now considering other options as the transfer window deadline draws ever closer.
Guarin is another top performer in Serie A and has also attracted strong interest from Tottenham and Juventus this summer, but he may now be United’s main target to solve their problems in midfield this season.
The Colombian star will likely be cheaper than Vidal, though it remains to be seen if he will favour a move to Old Trafford over the other options available to him, with Champions League football at Juve likely to be tempting for the 28-year-old.
It has been another frustrating year in the transfer market for United, with rivals Chelsea looking like beating them to the signing of another target, AS Roma defender Mehdi Benatia.
