Apparent Manchester United target Daley Blind could still stay at Ajax, report the Express, with the Netherlands international saying that he is in “no hurry” to leave the Amsterdam Arena.

Blind, who played under new United manager Louis van Gaal at this summer’s 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, has been suggested as a potential solution to United’s defensive crisis, which again reared its head as van Gaal lost his first competitive game 2-1 against Swansea City at Old Trafford.

The versatile defender, who can play either on the left or in the centre of the back line as well as in midfield, has repeatedly been linked with a move away from Ajax this summer, the club where he has spent his entire footballing development.

Much of the speculation linking Blind with Old Trafford seems to have come from the player’s flexibility, which makes him an ideal candidate for van Gaal’s fluid 3-4-1-2 system, which requires players to be adept at playing in more than one position.

He would cost a significant fee, however, due to his importance to the Amsterdam based club as a fooballer and also due to the length of time that is still remaining on his contract.

Despite Blind stating that he would be happy to stay at Ajax, however, he certainly did not rule out a summer move away:

“If a club announces itself, we’ll talk but I’m happy here as well. So for me there’s no hurry.”
