Liverpool Manager Brendan Rodgers Preparing To Make More Signings Despite Having Already Spent £101m

The Northern Irishman still wants to improve his squad.

After beating Southampton 2-1 in their 2014/15 Premier League opener, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted he wants to sign one or two more players.

This is despite the fact that the 41-year-old has already acquired eight new stars this summer for a combined cost of £101m and it could end up being a real overhaul for the Reds.

“There is maybe an area or two we will look at, but if the right players become available then we will look to do something,” Rodgers told talkSPORT.

“We’ve got another few weeks left yet, so we’ll see what’s available.”

It’s thought that after missing out on QPR’s Loic Remy a new striker remains a priority for the Merseysiders, with former Chelsea ace Samuel Eto’o and Wilfried Bony of Swansea City believed to be the leading targets.

So far this summer Rodgers has signed Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren (all Southampton), Emre Can (Bayer Leverkusen), Lazar Markovic (Benfica), Divock Origi (Lille), Javier Manquillo (Atletico Madrid) and Alberto Moreno (Sevilla).

It’s thought that the team may struggle though due to the £75m departure of Luis Suarez to FC Barcelona, although clearly the Northern Irishman has wasted no time in reinvesting that money received for the 2014 PFA Player of the Year.
