Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is eligible to make his Barcelona debut tonight, as the Catalan giants play Leon Guanajuato in their final warm-up game ahead of the 2014-15 La Liga season.
Suarez was unsuccessful in appealing his four-month football ban last month, issued for the Uruguayan forward biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini. However, the 27-year-old was given permission to train with his new club and participate in friendly matches.
With less than a week to go until the big kick-off against Elche, Luis Enrique’s men take on Mexican side Club Leon as the Spanish giants look to finalise their preparations ahead of the new season.
They will be play for the Joan Gamper Trophy as part of an annual one-off match held by Barcelona. The Catalans have won the mini-tournament on 36 of the 48 occasions it has been held, and will be confident of getting their hands on another piece of silverware later tonight. Last year, they defeated Santos 8-0.
