Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is ready to step-up his pursuit of Swansea City star Wilfried Bony after his side’s faltering victory over Southampton this weekend.

The Anfield side are still very much in the hunt for a fresh striking addition and Rodgers continues to pursue Ivory Coast international Bony and is ready to make an official bid for the 25 year old.

The Liberty Stadium side paid a club record £13m for Bony last summer, with the former Vitesse Arnhem man smashing in 25 goals in his debut campaign, and having seem Michu, Michel Vorm and Ben Davies leave over the summer one can see why boss Garry Monk would not be looking to lose the powerful marksman.

Chief executive Ian Ayre will approach the South Wales side with a cash bid of £15m but will also make striker Fabio Borini available on an initial loan deal as part of the offer from the Merseyside outfit.

Liverpool had hoped to sell the 23 year old Italian international to Sundeland earlier this summer, having agreed a £14m deal with the Black Cats, but Borini turned down the move.

If successful with this offer the club will force the former AS Roma man to move to Swansea City and would then hope to make the temporary move a permanent one.

Bony is thought to be very keen on securing a move to Liverpool and a concrete offer for his services may well lead the player to put in a transfer request.
