Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is determined to win back his starting role at Stamford Bridge, and will stay at the club this summer if he believes it to be a realistic possibility.

The 32-year-old stopper, who was left of the substitute’s bench in favour of Thibaut Courtois for the Blue’s Premier League opener against Burnley on Monday night, has been at the club since 2004.

Stamford Bridge boss Jose Mourinho has already spoken of his desire for Cech to stay, and the Daily Mail believes that he will do so if his given suitable reassurances on his future by his manager.

The Mail believes that Cech wants assurances over his Chelsea future as Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco manoeuvre themselves into position to strike for the goalkeeper.

The player believes that he has been left in the dark over his first-team prospects following the return of Courtois from Atletico Madrid earlier this summer.

Mourinho, despite publicly admitting continuity in the goalkeeper position is important, still feels Cech can dislodge Courtois and likes the dynamic of having two world class keepers in his squad.

The source adds that, in an ideal world, Chelsea want Cech to stay and fight for his place, but the goalkeeper is unlikely to accept a season of sitting on the bench. With transfer deadline day less than two weeks away, a loan move away from Stamford Bridge with a recall option could suit both Chelsea and Cech.
