Man United are hopeful of completing the signing of long term target Juan Cuadrado with a view to the Colombian being on board in time to feature in their weekend clash with Sunderland according to the Daily Express.

Fiorentina had hoped to keep hold of the 26 year old Colombian but slapped a £32m price-tag on the winger so as to scare off interest, unfortunately such an act did the opposite.

Louis van Gaal is so keen to secure a wide-attacking addition that he has convinced Man United chiefs to sanction a bid that meets the Serie A side’s valuation.

Man United’s poor showing, and ultimate defeat, at home to Swansea City on the opening day of the season has left Louis van Gaal pushing for a deal to be struck as soon as possible.

Cuadrado enjoyed a standout season last term, scoring 15 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions, before putting in a superb showing at the World Cup, helping Colombia to the quarter-finals.

The likes of Nani, Danny Welbeck, Luis Antonio Valencia, and to a lesser extent due to his excellent pre-season showing, Ashley Young must all be concerned for their futures given Louis van Gaal’s obvious desire to sign a winger.
