Wenger looks likely to bring in some much needed strength in depth with a deal for Greek defender Kostas Manolas seemingly in the bag.
Manolas, who represented Greece at this summer’s World Cup finals, will offer Wenger a strong back-up to his first choice central defensive pairing of Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker.
Arsenal have also seen a bid accepted for PSG youngster Adrien Rabiot with the teenage midfielder offering Arsene Wenger a fresh central midfield option.
The Premier League side have had a £5.5m bid accepted by the Ligue 1 side, with the Parc des Princes side no doubt mindful of the fact that the 19 year old’s contract has less than a year to run.
Rabiot is considered one of the hottest prospects in European football but his struggle for regular first team action could well lead to the French Under 21 international looking to secure a fresh challenge.
Arsene Wenger could see the rangy midfielder as a long term replacement for veteran skipper Mikel Arteta, with the strong starlet perhaps ideally placed to fill the defensively minded holding role in the centre of the park in the long term.
