The 26 year old looks set for a season warming the bench and may be tempted by a fresh challenge and a move back to the Emirates Stadium could be one the Cameroon international would be interested in.

Song left the north London side for the Nou Camp back in August 2012 but over the past two seasons the tough tackling midfielder has started 29 La Liga fixtures and is likely to see his status at the club even more diminished under new boss Luis Enrique.

Tottenham and Galatasaray are also keeping tabs on Song and though Barcelona would ideally like to sell the player outright they will consider a loan switch.

Song could offer Wenger a strong central midfield option who can perhaps offer support to veteran skipper Mikel Arteta and French bit-part player Mathieu Flamini.

During his previous spell at Arsenal the former Bastia man racked up 217 appearances for the club.
