Barcelona are lining up a sensational bid for Borussia Dortmund attacker Marco Reus according to the Daily Express.

The Nou Camp side had been linked with an interest in the German international but opted instead to use the lion’s share of their transfer budget to sign Liverpool striker Luis Suarez but FIFA’s decision to reject Barcelona’s appeal against a transfer ban will apparently see Luis Enrique make an offer for Reus before the transfer window closes.

The 25 year old’s Westfalenstadion contract includes a £20m release clause that can be triggered next summer but Barcelona will attempt to reach an agreement whereby the La Liga side buys the former Borussia Monchengladbach man this month and then loans Reus back to the Bundesliga side for the coming season.

Reus has seen his side fall a country mile behind domestic rivals Bayern Munich and as such may well be tempted by a move to Barcelona.

One would have to wonder quite where the Borussia Dortmund star would fit into a starting eleven that would also have to include Lionel Messi, Neymar, Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic, not to mention Andres Iniesta.
