AS Monaco club record signing Radamel Falcao has asked for a transfer this summer with Liverpool and Manchester United among six clubs interested in the striker, according to Italian football journalist Tancredi Palmeri.

Falcao joined Monaco from Atletico Madrid in a £50m deal last summer, but his first season in Ligue 1 was interrupted by a cruciate ligament injury that also ruled the 28-year-old out of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The Colombia international has also failed to settle in the Principality and just 12 months after arriving at the Stade Louis II is looking to move away and the forward won’t be short of potential suitors.

The Reds have been eyeing Falcao as a replacement for recently departed attacker Luis Suarez, who joined FC Barcelona earlier this summer for £75m.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has struggled to fill the void left by Suarez with Rickie Lambert and Divovk Origi the only new striking additions and this fellow South American would certainly go a long way to appeasing the fans.

Falcao is considered as one of the best scorers in European football having netted 154 goals in 198 appearances over the past five years with FC Porto, Atleti and now Monaco.
