Liverpool are reportedly edging closer to securing a shock move to sign AS Monaco goal machine Radamel Falcao according to French source Le10Sport.

By all accounts the 28 year old has been persuaded that a move to Anfield is a viable option and one that boss Brendan Rodgers may just pull off.

The deal in question would be an initial loan move that could lead to a possible permanent exit and it’s one that would assist Liverpool in their pursuit of a striker signing who can help fill the void left by Luis Suarez’s exit to Barcelona.

The Ligue 1 side are reportedly looking to find a club for Falcao, perhaps with a view to improving their chances of adhering to UEFA’s FFP (Financial Fair Play) guidelines.

Falcao is a proven goal-scorer who would be an ideal man to bring in for the current campaign though one imagines a permanent move for the former FC Porto and Atletico Madrid man would set Liverpool back a club record breaking fee.

Liverpool brought in Southampton forward Rickie Lambert to add an extra goal threat, as well as young Belgian Divock Origi, but it would be fair to say that such acquisitions barely scratch the surface when it comes to replacing the output of last season’s leading Premier League goal-scorer.
