Liverpool Bound £16.8m Striker Mario Balotelli Was Rejected By Arsenal Boss Arsene Wenger Earlier This Summer

Will Wenger be made to regret passing on Super Mario?

Liverpool have agreed a £16.8m fee with AC Milan for the transfer of former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli, according to beIN Sports correspondent Tancredi Palmeri.

Mr Palmeri also claims that Balotelli was poised to join Arsenal for £24m earlier this summer, before Gunners manager Arsene Wenger pulled the plug on the deal.

Wenger was apparently unconvinced by Balotelli’s reliability.

Balotelli has been sent off seven times in the last five seasons.

During his brief stay with Man City, Balotelli crashed his car, had a fight with Micah Richards and had the police called to his home after fireworks exploded in the bathroom.

In January 2012, Balotelli parked his Bentley outside Manchester Xaverian College and casually walked inside to use the education establishment’s toilets.

On a positive note, Balotelli netted 30 goals in 80 first-team games for City.

In 54 Premier League matches, he provided just one assist, but it was worth its weight in gold, as it set up the goal that clinched City’s 3-2 victory over Queens Park Rangers on the final day of the 2011-12 season.

Balotelli’s move to Liverpool now seems very likely to go through.

The 24-year-old certainly thinks that he is on his way out of the San Siro.

He is quoted as saying: “This is my last day at Milanello”.
