United favourites to snap up AS Monaco star.

Manchester United look set to step up their interest in AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao after learning that Liverpool have focused their attention on signing Mario Balotelli instead.
The Red Devils have been keeping an eye on Falcao’s situation this summer as he looks to be pushing for an exit from the Ligue 1 giants after just one season with the club.
The Colombian international is likely to be allowed to move on loan for the 2014/15 season for a fee of around £12m, and United will face competition from the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid for his signature, even if Liverpool look to have dropped out of the running.
Although United already have Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie as their first-choice strike partnership, it is thought that Louis van Gaal would consider offloading both Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck in hope of signing another truly world class centre-forward to compete with the pair for a place in the side.
Falcao’s superb record in front of goal with previous clubs Porto and Atletico Madrid have made him one of the most sought-after talents in world football for some time, and he would make an exciting signing for United this season as they aim to get back into the top four after last season’s nightmare campaign under David Moyes.
Respected journalist Tancredi Palmeri has confirmed the player’s desire to move as well as an approach from United, who are now determined to win the race for his signature after Liverpool ceased to be serious contenders to snap him up.

With other suitors City and Real already having so much in the way of big-name talent upfront, it seems probable that Falcao could choose a move to Old Trafford over either of those two as he hopes to be playing regular first-team football, rather than joining to be a squad player.
