Juventus are being tipped to keep hold of both Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal this summer, despite both players being linked as among Manchester United’s main transfer targets, the Daily Star reports.
Pogba, who started his career at Old Trafford as a youngster before leaving on a free transfer in 2012, is now regarded as one of the most exciting young players in the world, and has also been linked with Chelsea in this transfer window.
However, the 21-year-old Frenchman is now being tipped to sign a new five-year contract to extend his stay in Turin, with Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri also strongly hinting that Vidal will not be moving either.
This will come as another major blow for United in what has been a difficult and frustrating transfer window for them once again, though there may still be some hope of the Red Devils signing Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria.
Still, Juve will be delighted to have fought off interest in their two best players, with the club’s CEO Beppe Marotta confirming that talks with Pogba were set to take place.
“Pogba? We have had some negotiation with his agents, we hope to arrive at a positive conclusion shortly,” he said.
Meanwhile, Allegri added that he is pleased to be working with midfielders of this quality, and that he feels they are both happy at the club as well.
“Vidal and Pogba are very happy to be here and I am very happy to coach them,” said the manager.
