West Brom have officially completed the free transfer signing of Celtic forward Georgios Samaras.

Baggies boss Alan Irvine was full of praise for the Greek international, who has signed a two year contract with the Premier League side.

“We’ve signed a player with vast experience,”

“He has played a lot of football at the highest levels and he thrives on the big occasion.” Irvine added.

29 year old Samaras will offer stiff competition for West Brom attackers Brown Ideye, Victor Anichebe and Saido Berahino and is a player making a return to the English top tier after seven seasons in Glasgow.

Prior to his move to Celtic Samaras had spent two years at Man City and was certainly something of a hero with the Parkhead faithful.

The powerful forward made 248 appearances for Celtic, scoring 74 goals, winning four Scottish domestic titles in the process.
