Out of favour Man United forward Danny Welbeck is apparently ‘hopeful’ of completing a move to Tottenham this summer according to The Times.

The move would cost the north London side £15m though there is also the option of an initial loan deal being sought.

A £15m fee seems a fair price to pay for the 23 year old England international, especially when you consider the £26m and £30m outlays made by the White Hart Lane side for Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela respectively last summer.

Welbeck had his most prolific season to date last term, netting nine goals in 25 Premier League appearances, of which ten were from the bench.

The Old Trafford man is behind Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie in the Man United pecking order and with an Angel di Maria Man United transfer looking likely to be completed there would be even less of a need to keep hold of Welbeck, who can also be used in a wide-attacking role.

With a view to improving his striking options Pochettino is also tracking QPR’s Loic Remy, a move that could apparently be handily covered by a swap deal that would see Lewis Holtby or Mousa Dembele moving in the opposite direction.
