West Ham are reportedly considering something of a surprise move to sign Tottenham defender Michael Dawson according to the Daily Mail.

The White Hart Lane side are ready to sell the 30 year old as part of a defensive clear-out that could also see Romanian centre-back Vlad Chiriches leave before the transfer window closes and apparently Upton Park boss Sam Allardyce is interested in the Spurs skipper.

Hull City are also said to be tracking the former England international who has been left warming the bench for the north London side’s opening Premier League and Europa League fixtures.

Dawson may feel that at this stage of his career he can not afford to be left out of the starting eleven and as such a move to either West Ham or Hull City could tempt the former Nottingham Forest man.

Tottenham signed Dawson back in January 2005 and has made 324 appearances for the club.

West Ham lost their opening Premier League fixture against Tottenham last week and Allardyce’s future is on the line and may well look to bring in a player or two before the end of the month.
