Chelsea youngster Marco van Ginkel has warned Chelsea to play him or lose him, as he seeks showdown talks with manager Jose Mourinho over his future.

The fit-again £8 million Dutch midfielder would like assurances over his future and – according to the Daily Mirror – fears for his first-team opportunities due to the wealth of options in his position at Stamford Bridge.

Nemanja Matic and John Obi Mikel are both favoured in the defensive midfield role, while Cesc Fabregas and Ramiers are also ahead of him in the race for a more central position.

Dutch club PSV Eindhoven have contacted the Blues about taking the 21-year-old on loan, and Italian giants AC Milan and Lazio are willing to give van Ginkel a permanent route out of London.

The Metro believe that, despite recovering from a season-ending injury, sustained during Chelsea’s win over Swindon in the Capital One Cup in September last year,  Van Ginkel could complete a move to Milan before the end of the transfer window.

Indeed, the youngster’s agent yesterday admitted that an exit was a possibility, with Chelsea needing to ship out one more foreign player to meet Premier League quotas.
