Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira is said to be in London with his representatives as he seeks to complete his long awaited move to Arsenal.

The German international is set to leave the Bernabeu after being informed he isn’t part of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans for the current campaign, with the La Liga side keen to cash-in on the World Cup winner.

Khedira is also being courted by Chelsea though it is believed that the 27 year old is keen to move to the Emirates Stadium as he feels he has a better chance of securing regular first team action and will also team-up with national team colleagues Mesut Ozil, Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker at the north London club.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is desperate to sell the former Stuttgart man and has adjusted the tough tackler’s valuation accordingly, with the player’s price-tag reducing from £25m to £12m as they look to complete a sale before the transfer window closes.

As Khedira is now into his final year of his Real Madrid contract the Spanish giants are well aware that they could lose the player on a free transfer next summer and are therefore ready to accept a cut-price offer which Arsenal are ready to pay.

Khedira is ready to reduce his £200k a week wage demands in order to force a deal through.

Arsene Wenger has been looking to bring in a steely midfield option all summer and the ankle injury suffered by Mikel Arteta has hastened his chase for Khedira, who is perhaps more suited to a holding role than the veteran Spaniard.

Sami Khedira missed most of last term through injury but recovered well to help Real Madrid secure a Champions League triumph last term before playing a key role in Germany’s World Cup win in Brazil.

Arsenal have thus far brought in Alexis Sanchez, David Ospina, Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers and a move to bring in another high-profile addition could speed up the likely sale or one or two of Wenger’s Gunners squad with the likes of Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell both being strongly linked with possible exits.
