Marouane Fellaini Set for Man United Stay as Napoli End Interest In Old Trafford Flop

Marouane Fellaini is set to stay at Manchester United after Napoli lost interest in the midfielder due to doubts over his fitness, the Metro reports.

The Belgian struggled with form and injuries during his first season at Old Trafford. United boss Louis Van Gaal is set to add at least one central midfielder to his squad before the transfer window closes, meaning Fellaini’s opportunities for first team football could be scare.

Napoli manager Rafael Benitez was thought to be interested in signing Fellaini however, the midfielder suffered an ankle injury in training last week. This has put Napoli off signing Fellaini as they don’t want to buy a player whose fitness is questionable.

Despite the possibility of United signing the likes of Arturo Vidal and Nigel de Jong, Fellaini hasn’t been told that he is surplus to requirements by Van Gaal.

Fellaini is also determined to stay at the club and fight for his place despite the sacking of David Moyes, the man who brought signed him last summer.

The Belgian international believes that he can make a success of his move to Man United despite the poor form he displayed in his first season at the club.
