Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been linked with the Morocco international, according to the Daily Express, but the lure of the Bundesliga champions has proven too great.
Bayern head coach Pep Guardiola has been on the hunt for recruitment at the back following the injury to Javi Martinez and viewed the unsettled Benatia as the ideal option.
The 27-year-old was considered to be among the best centre-backs in Europe last term as he helped Roma to second in Serie A and a return to the Champions League following his 2013 move from Udinese.
Benatia felt that this form earned him a pay rise, but after only completing 12 months of a five-year deal the club disagreed and animosity grew between the two parties as a result.
Roma have already signed Davide Astori as cover and have been heavily linked by Goal with Olympiakos’ Kostas Manolas.
