Daley Blind To Manchester United: Ajax’s Marc Overmars Gives Telling Update

It looks like the Dutch World Cup star will not be moving to Old Trafford…

The chances of Daley Blind moving from Ajax to Manchester United appear to be fading into the distance…

Dutch daily De Telegraaf have reported that Ajax’s Financial Director Marc Overmars, the former Arsenal legend, has claimed that his club would prefer to keep the wing-back come midfielder for at least one more season.

“We want to keep Blind for another year. Only if the offer is very high, we can talk,” said Overmars.

“There is some movement around Blind, people are enquiring here and there. But there’s no contact with Manchester United.”

The comments appear to dash any hopes United fans had of securing Blind, who shot to prominence this summer after a glistening World Cup campaign with the Netherlands.

The fact he was managed by the now United boss Louis van Gaal meant links between the two were strong, especially considering the need for a defensive midfielder at Old Trafford.

However, the latest update on the potential transfer seems to show that while there is interest from Blind, it doesn’t stem from Manchester, and the Red Devils could instead turn their attention back toward Arturo Vidal.
