Liverpool could be set to complete one finally deal in what has been a busy summer transfer window, report the Mirror, with former Arsenal and current Barcelona midfielder Alex Song seemingly keen on a return to the Premier League with the Reds.

The Cameroon international seemingly has no future with the La Liga runners-up under the management of Luis Enrique and would reportedly jump at the chance to return to the Premier League, with Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool believed to be leading contenders for the player’s signature.

The former Arsenal man is reportedly stalling on a prospective loan move to Serie A outfit AC Milan in the hope that Liverpool’s mooted interest becomes a concrete offer.

The 26 year-old spent six successful years at the Emirates Stadium after signing from Ligue 1 outfit SC Bastia, also enjoying a loan spell with Charlton Athletic, before becoming one of a number of Arsenal players to make the move to Barcelona.

Liverpool have already spent more than £100 million this summer in their quest to both replace Barcelona-bound striker Luis Suarez and build a squad capable of competing both in the Premier League and Champions League in the coming season.

Song also had 47 caps for Cameroon and played in the 2014 FIFA World Cup – although was sent off for violent conduct in his country’s 4-0 defeat against Croatia.
